Solutions for Low Login Rates
If insufficient users are logging into your recognition platform, its full potential remains untapped. Here are some remedies to consider to boost login rates:
1) Send an Email Through Bulk Email Builder Prompting Login
Utilize the Email Template Easy Editor to craft an email that raises platform awareness and prompts users to engage with the tools available. Access the Easy Editor by following these steps:
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Select “Platform”, “Notifications,” then “Email Templates” in the left navigation menu.
- Click Add Template.
- Fill out the Template information and click on ‘Easy Editor’ under the Editor Type dropdown menu.
- Click Next.
See the Email Template Easy Editor support article for detailed steps. After creating the email, open the Bulk Email Builder using the steps below:
- Select “Recognition” then “Queues” from the left navigation menu.
- Click the “Bulk Email” tab.
- Select “Schedule Bulk Email.”
Complete the Bulk Email form, choose your email template from the dropdown, click Next, and schedule the email. See the Sending Non-Monetary Emails with Bulk Email Builder support article or Episode 31 of How We Built This for details.
2) Create a Survey to Identify Login Pain Points
Collecting feedback from your organization helps understand user opinions about your recognition platform. Use our Surveys tool to gather insights and make improvements. Sample questions include:
- How frequently do you log into the platform?
- What barriers do you encounter when logging in?
- What enhancements would you like to see in the platform experience?
Boost survey participation by awarding points after completion (set in the Reward tab) or by inviting participants to share feedback that could influence their platform experience. See the How We Built This - "Leveraging Surveys in Awardco" workshop episode for details.
3) Implement Platform Drivers like AwardCodes and Onboarding Swag
AwardCodes and Onboarding Swag serve as incentives to encourage users to log in and engage with the platform. Awarding physical AwardCodes allows users to scan QR codes to log in and add points to their balance. Additionally, allocating points to new hires for company swag introduces the platform early in the onboarding process. Refer to the following articles for more information:

4) Drive Internal Change with Leadership Support
Managers play a pivotal role in change management. Increased emphasis on recognition by managers correlates with higher login rates. Encourage managers to promote recognition in one-on-one meetings and team gatherings.
Solutions for Low Recognition Rates
Insufficient recognition implies missed opportunities for fostering appreciation among colleagues. Consider the following solutions to enhance recognition rates:
1) Enable the Recognition Reminder
Setting an automated reminder to remind users to recognize is a simple solution to increase recognition. Access Reminders settings with the following steps:
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Select “Platform”, “Notifications,” then “Reminders” in the left navigation menu.
- Set the Recognition Reminder Frequency and email template.
Create the email template in the Email Template Easy Editor and set the Email Type to ‘Recognition Reminder’. We recommend sending this monthly to boost recognition. See our Platform Reminders support article and Episode 10 of How We Built This for details.
2) Utilize Communication Integrations
Awardco integrates with apps like Slack and Microsoft Outlook, making recognition easy within your existing channels. See the Applications that integration with Awardco support article for details on all available integrations.
3) Monitor Recognition Insights
Some parts of your organization may excel in recognition, while low usage might be limited to specific user groups. Use the Recognition Program Utilization report to see participation by nominators and identify groups to encourage. For help, see the Recognition Program Utilization support article.
4) Implement a Top Recognizers Program
A great way to encourage recognition is to recognize and award points to those who recognize the most. To find out the users that recognize the most:
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Select “Insights”, “Reports,” then “Recognition Details” from the left navigation menu.
- Filter by the desired time period by desired recognition programs.
- Select “Run Report.”
- Scroll down to the ‘Recognition Summarized By Recognition Program’ data visualization, and select
- ‘From Full Name’ from the dropdown menu.
To award the top recognizers, you’ll need to create a simple recognition program. Follow the steps below to quickly create this:
- Click the “Recognition”, “Programs,” then “Recognition Programs” from the left navigation menu.
- Select “Create Program” in Recognition Program Settings.
- Name the program.
- General Tab
- Select a start date.
- Set the program category as “High-Performance Programs.”
- Select a template from the dropdown menu under “Program Notification Email Template.” Construct this email in the Email Template Easy Editor if a desired template is not yet created.
- Points Tab
- Toggle “Points” on.
- Select an award preset option (most common is “Award value in points.”)
- Toggle “Allow Custom Award Amounts” on and input a range.
- Set ‘Central Budget’ access and specify the budget from which the points will come.
- Eligibility Tab
- Set the “Giver Eligibility" as yourself or whoever is awarding.
- Display Tab
- Allow recognitions sent from this program to be public by checking the box next to ‘Allow public posting to feed’ on.
- Click “Save Changes” then “Publish Now.”
From there, you’re able to access the program via the “Recognize” buttons/widges on the homepage. For detailed instructions, refer to the resources below:

5) Role-Based Dashboards
Enable managers to promote team recognition with Role-Based dashboards that provide key insights. For setup and usage, see the Role-Based Dashboards support article and Episode 30 of How We Built This.
Solutions for Low Redemption Rates
Users not spending their hard-earned points means they aren’t connecting their employee experience to their value your organization is providing. Consider the following to increase the redemption of points given.
1) Enable the Point Balance Reminder
Setting an automated reminder to remind users to spend their points is a simple solution to increase redemption. Access Reminders settings with the following steps:
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Select “Platform”, “Notifications,” then “Email Templates” in the left navigation menu.
- Set the Recognition Reminder Frequency and email template.
- Set the Point Balance Reminder Frequency, email template and Point Balance Threshold.
Create the email template in the Email Template Easy Editor and set the Email Type to ‘Point Balance’. Send reminders monthly to users with 10 or more points. For details, see our Platform Reminders support article.
2) Look for Redemption Trends in Reporting
Adding metadata to your user file imports lets reports like the User Point Balance report identify regions or teams not spending points. To monitor redemption trends, schedule this report regularly using the Sending Scheduled Reports feature.
3) Expand Redemption Options
Low redemption rates may be because users don’t like the options in the Spend Points tab. To explore this, create a survey using our Surveys tool to collect feedback and improve their experience. Useful questions could include:
- What would you like to spend your points on?
- If you have a point balance, what’s preventing you from spending?
Based on your findings, expand your Award Network options and even think about allowing users to supplement their purchases with their own payment details if they want items greater than their current point balance.
