Use the FitOn integration to reward employees with Awardco points when they complete wellness activities, without adding extra work for your team.
Overview
FitOn is a health and wellness platform that helps employees stay active and healthy.
With the FitOn integration, you can:
- Give Awardco points automatically when employees finish FitOn challenges or programs.
- Encourage ongoing wellness instead of one‑time rewards.
- Save time by removing manual tracking or uploads.
Prerequisites
Before you set up the integration, make sure you have:
- A FitOn account for your company (with a FitOn Company ID provided by FitOn).
- API Earn Programs turned on for your Awardco account.
NOTE: If you are not sure whether API Earn or the FitOn integration is enabled, contact your Awardco CSM.
Setting up the FitOn Integration
Step 1: Get your FitOn Account and Company ID
First, make sure your company has a live FitOn account.
- Reach out to FitOn in one of these ways:
- Email awardco@fitonhealth.com, or
- In Awardco, on the FitOn integration page, click Begin Setup, then click Notify Representative to let FitOn know you are interested.
- Work with the FitOn team to complete their setup and licensing.
- After you are set up in FitOn, FitOn will send you a FitOn Company ID for your organization.
You will use this Company ID later when you connect Awardco to FitOn.
Step 2: Create the API Earn Program in Awardco
Now set up the Earn programs that will award points when FitOn activities are completed.
- Log in to Awardco.
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Recognition,” “Programs,” and then "Earn Programs."
- Create a new API Earn Program for each FitOn activity or challenge you want to reward.
General Tab
Upon adding the API Earn Program, the General Tab will display the complete list of settings.
General Settings:
- Program Name
- Program Description: Brief description to help users identify the program (125-character limit).
- ‘Learn More’ Link Message: Text shown when users select "learn more" for program information (2,000-character limit).
Program Title Image
Choose a high-quality image to represent this program. This image will be displayed on the program card: Upload a header image for the program; recommended dimensions are 1200x600 px and 50MB in size.
Notification Settings
Choose an email template for new earn reward notifications.
Learn More
You have the option to provide answers to common questions and additional information. Available on the program card and during submission.
Eligibility Tab
Determine who can participate in this earn program. Eligibility can be limited by user or specific metadata values.
Points Tab
Within the Points tab, configure these options:
- Points: Toggle the points option “on” to allow points to be given or received through the program.
- Display Award Preset As: Changes to this setting are cosmetic only and do not affect how points are shown anywhere in the platform. This is due to the setup of the API FitOn integration.
- Presets: List preset recognition amounts.
- Preset label - List preset recognition amounts, e.g., $5, $10, $15. For example, if you would like users to choose from $5, $10, and $15 when submitting an award in this program, you would enter those values here in either the platform currency field (USD) or points field. You will only need to enter values in the currency or points input fields. Select “Add another preset” for each preset recognition amount.
- Award Value in Points or Award Value in local currency - Enter the preset amount. Select “Add another preset” for each preset recognition amount.
- Budgets: Select the budget(s) from which points will be drawn to fund the program.
- Award Network: This network sets the redemption options for points earned in the program. Usually, choosing “Standard” is best. For details on limiting redemption options, see the Managing Award Networks support article.
Recognition Limits Tab
Within the Recognition Limits tab, configure these options:
- Limit Period Based On:
- Program start date - Sets the limit rule based on the most recent anniversary of the program start date. For example, if the program start date is 6/23/19, the most recent anniversary on 4/12/21 would be 6/23/20.
- Calendar year start date - Configures the rule to restart with each new calendar period (e.g., year, month, or quarter).
- Limit Rules: Define rules to manage the amount and frequency of program awards by selecting “Add Rule” and configuring:
- Frequency - Set the number of recognitions that can be given or received within a specific time frame (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months; e.g., 1 Time per 1 month).
- Amount - Set the number of points that can be received or given within a specific time frame (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months; e.g., 50 points per 3 months).
Display Tab
Within the Display tab, configure these options:
- Display:
- Select if recognitions should post publicly to the recognition feed
- Reward Giver:
- Choose who the giver of the earn recognition will be. This will be displayed in the recognition feed. Options include the company bot or a designated user within the platform.
- Recognition Feed Banner:
- Use a 1200x300 image for the recognition in the feed. Ideal for distinguishing recognitions, this can be customized with icons.
- Recognition Note:
- Enter the note that will be included in the recognition message a user receives after claiming an earned reward.
- Tags:
- In the Tags section, you can let users select company values or other identifiers for their awards. If tags are used for tracking, selecting "Required (1)" and enabling one tag will auto-attach it to every recognition in the program. This article explains how to create core value hashtags if none exist.
When you set up each program, choose the API Earn option so rewards are sent automatically when FitOn notifies Awardco. Set the point amount for each completion and any limits or rules you want, such as how often users can earn. These API Earn programs act as “target buckets” that FitOn activities map to so points can post automatically.
Step 3: Set Up the FitOn Integration
Set up the integration for FitOn in Awardco.
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Platform,” “Integrations,” and then "Integrations Library."
- Select “FitOn.”
- On the integration setup page, click "Begin Setup" and enter the FitOn Company ID where prompted, and then "Continue Setup.”
- On the mapping screen:
- Choose the FitOn activity and connect it to the earn program. NOTE: only one earn program can be connected to each activity.
- Set the connection status for each mapped item to Active so that rewards can flow. You do this by selecting the 3 dots on the line and selecting.
- Save your changes.
- After this, your Awardco account will be connected to FitOn for the activities you mapped.
NOTE: The FitOn integration only works with API Earn programs
Step 4: Add the FitOn widget to your Homepage
To make the integration easy for employees to find and use, add the FitOn widget to your Awardco homepage.
NOTE: Make sure you only publish the widget after your FitOn connection and mappings are complete.
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Customize” and then "Homepage Editor."
- Click “Add Content” and add “FitOn” from the left-hand widget column. NOTE: It will not show up as an option on the larger right-hand widget column.
- Place the widget where you want it to appear on the homepage.
- Save your homepage layout.
NOTE: It is recommended to move this widget closer to the top of your homepage. NOTE: If you also use the Opportunities to Earn widget, it is recommended to place the FitOn widget above it. The FitOn earn program tiles will appear in both widgets, but only the FitOn widget lets users open the actual FitOn workout.
When you are done, the FitOn widget will show up for users on the homepage.
How Points are Awarded to Employees
Once everything is set up:
- Each employee will see the FitOn widget on the Awardco homepage.
- The widget will show tiles for each mapped FitOn activity or challenge.
- When a user clicks View in FitOn, they are taken straight to that activity in FitOn.
- After they complete the activity in FitOn, an automated trigger will then give the user the matching points in Awardco from the mapped API Earn program.
NOTE: Users do not need to claim rewards manually—points post on their own once FitOn sends the completion event.
