Key Benefits of Awardco Giving
The new Awardco Giving platform offers significant advantages over the legacy Charity Master Catalogs:
- Vastly Expanded Charity Selection: The legacy catalogs were limited to a small list of charities. Awardco Giving provides access to over 1.7 million charities globally through our partnership with Givinga, ensuring employees can support causes they truly care about.
- Simplified Management: The need for manual upkeep and copying items from a master catalog is eliminated. Awardco Giving features a simplified, self-service management for adding, enabling, and removing charities.
- Enhanced Compliance and Security: The new platform ensures streamlined, secure, and compliant donation processing with centralized management, reducing the administrative burden on your organization.
- Improved Customization and Routing: You can now customize the feature with a Display Name, Description, and Banner Image. Crucially, the new Donation Routing Instructions feature ensures funds are correctly allocated to a specific fund within a larger foundation.
5-Step Action Plan: Transition to Awardco Giving
The transition involves five main steps:
- Enable Awardco Giving as a company-wide Award Option.
- Add and Manage your preferred charities.
- Add Awardco Giving to your preferred Award Networks.
- Disable the old Charity Master Catalog.
- Communicate the changes to your organization.
Step 1: Enable Awardco Giving
This action activates the feature for your organization.
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Marketplace” and then "Award Network."
- Navigate to the Award Options tab.
-
Click “Add Option.”
- Locate Awardco Giving and click "Enable this Option."
Step 2: Configure and Manage Your Enabled Charities
You now need to select the specific charities you wish to support.
- In the Awardco Giving settings (from Step 1), navigate to the Manage Charities section.
- Use the search bar to find the charities you want your employees to access.
-
Click “Add” next to each charity to make it available on the platform.
-
For charities that are a fund within a larger foundation:
- Click the three dots next to the charity's name.
- Select Donation Routing Instructions.
-
Enter the specific fund name (e.g., "The Together Fund") to ensure donations are directed correctly.
- Check the Country Availability tab and confirm that the countries where your employees need to donate are supported.
Step 3: Add Awardco Giving to the Proper Award Networks
This step makes the newly configured option visible for employee redemption.
- Return to the main “Award Networks” page (Marketplace > Award Networks).
- Click a specific Award Network your employees use to spend points on charitable donations.
-
On the Basic Settings & Options tab, scroll down to the list of available redemption options.
- Locate Awardco Giving and toggle the switch to turn it on.
-
Select the countries where you want this option to be available for redemption.
- Click “Save.”
- Verify that the option is visible to employees by checking the Spend Points section. Repeat this step for every Award Network in which you’d like employees to spend their points on charitable giving.
Step 4: Retire the Legacy Charity Master Catalog
Once you have confirmed that your preferred charities are enabled in Awardco Giving and it is visible to employees, you must disable the old custom catalog to complete the migration.
- From the left admin navigation menu, click “Marketplace” and then "Award Network."
- Locate your existing charity catalog (the custom catalog used for donations).
- Click the catalog's name to open the configuration page.
-
Find the “Active” toggle and switch the setting to “Off.”
- Click “Save.”
The custom charity master catalog is now successfully retired, and your employees are seamlessly redirected to the vastly improved Awardco Giving experience!
Step 5: Communicating the Change to Employees (Internal Guidance)
While the Awardco Giving redemption experience is intuitive and isn’t too different from the legacy catalog experience, we recommend providing a short internal communication to your employees once the new feature is live to ensure a smooth transition.
