Recognizing in Microsoft Outlook

Awardco's Add-In for Microsoft Outlook provides a convenient way to recognize your colleagues directly within Outlook while reading or composing emails.

Note: For the best experience, we recommend using both the Outlook Add-In and Awardco’s Microsoft Bundle Integration. This bundle offers full access to the Awardco platform within Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft 365.

Connecting Your Account

Once your admin has added the Awardco app to Outlook, follow these steps to connect your account:

  1. Access the Awardco App:

    • Click the Awardco quick action if it's visible in your toolbar.
    • If you don't see it, click the icon with four squares (the waffle icon) in the top right of your email to open the apps menu.
    • Select "Awardco for Outlook".

  2. Log into Awardco:

    • Enter your Awardco credentials.
      • Important: You only need to do this once. Outlook will remember your login for future use. You might be asked to agree to Awardco's cookie policy or terms and conditions if you haven't done so before.

Recognizing in Outlook

Now that your account is connected, you’re ready to recognize your colleagues! Keep in mind that you must have an email selected and open for the Awardco recognition feature to work. If no email is open, the Awardco icon may appear greyed out or unclickable.

  1. Select an Email:
    • Make sure you have an email selected and open in Outlook. This is necessary to activate the Awardco integration.

  2. Access the Recognition Form:

    • Click the Awardco icon in the Outlook toolbar. This will open the recognition form directly within Outlook.

  3. Fill Out the Recognition Form:

    • Enter the name(s) of the person(s) you want to recognize, then click "Next".
    • Choose the appropriate recognition program if your organization uses them.
    • Provide the reason for the recognition, add any relevant tags, award points if you have a budget, and complete any other necessary fields.

  4. Submit the Recognition:

    • Click "Submit Recognition" to finalize. If the recognition is public, it will be shared on your company’s Awardco social feed.

     

Pinning the App for Easy Access

To make recognizing even quicker, you can pin the Awardco add-in to your Outlook ribbon:

  1. Click on any email.
  2. Click the waffle icon (four squares) in the top right of the email to see your installed applications. (On smaller windows, this icon might be located within the ellipsis menu "...").
  3. Right-click on the “Recognize” application and select Pin.

  • Q: Where is the Outlook Add-In supported?
    • A: The Outlook Add-In works with:
      • Outlook for the web (using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Chromium-based browsers)
      • Outlook on iOS and Android devices
      • Outlook on Windows and Mac (with a Microsoft 365 subscription)
  • Q: Where might the Outlook Add-In not be supported?
    • A: You might encounter issues with older versions of Outlook:
      • Outlook 2013 on Windows and Mac (version 15.x)
      • Outlook 2016 on Windows and Mac (version 16.x)
      • Outlook 2019 on Windows and Mac (version 16.x) For the best experience, consider upgrading to Microsoft 365.
  • Q: Can I use the Outlook Add-In if my company is located outside the US?
    • A: The Outlook Add-In generally works for users worldwide if their organization uses a US-based Awardco system. It might not be fully compatible with Awardco systems based in Canada or the UK.
