This article covers Awardco's Progressive Web Application (PWA), explaining what it is, how to use it, and its benefits for recognizing colleagues or joining engagement surveys. See our PWA one-sheet for details.
What is a Progressive Web App?
A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a type of application that you access through your web browser, rather than downloading it from an app store. It's built using standard web technologies and is designed to work on any device with a compatible browser, such as Safari or Chrome.
A PWA works much like the apps you're familiar with, but with some key advantages:
- Customizable: A PWA can be tailored to your company's branding. Your organization can give it a custom name and incorporate its own logo and colors, making your recognition and engagement programs feel more integrated.
- Seamless Updates: Updates happen automatically in the background. You’ll always have the latest features—including the most up-to-date survey tools—every time you log in.
- No Storage Required: Since it runs through your browser, it doesn't take up storage space on your phone like a traditional app.
How to Download
If you didn't download the PWA when initially prompted, you can still do so. Open your phone's web browser and sign in to your company's Awardco platform (company.awardco.com). Then, follow these steps:
- iOS (Safari)
- Android (Chrome)
How Do I Use the Progressive Web App?
Using the PWA is very straightforward. After you've downloaded it to your phone's home screen (as described above), you can access the Awardco platform by tapping the app icon. The PWA provides access to the following features:
- Social Feed: View all public recognitions given throughout your organization and stay connected with company culture.
- Take Surveys (Engage): Access the "Surveys" tab to share your thoughts and insights. The PWA is a perfect way to complete pulse surveys or annual engagement assessments directly from your mobile device.
- Recognize: Easily celebrate your colleagues by tapping the "Recognize" button. You can add messages, company values, and tags just like you would on a desktop.
-
Reward & Redeem: If your organization uses points, you can award them to peers or browse the marketplace to redeem your own points for rewards.
PWA vs. Awardco Mobile App Comparison
Awardco offers two excellent ways to access your platform on the go: the Progressive Web App (PWA), which you install directly from your browser, and the Awardco Mobile App, which you download from the Apple or Google app stores.
If your company has a custom-branded app icon or name, the PWA is the version you are using.
