Creating and sending one-off recognitions is now easier than ever. Use our improved Bulk Recognition interface to send recognitions outside of a recognition program for purposes like one-off company events, missed service awards, or company announcements. Refer to the article below to get started.

Create a Bulk Upload
To access the Bulk Recognition Builder:
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Recognition” and then "Queues."
- Click the “Bulk Recognition Builder” button.
Create Custom Spot Recognitions
To send spot recognitions for one-off events, click the Spot Recognitions button under the Custom Spot Recognitions option. Follow the steps below to configure the bulk recognition:
- Send Date* - Select a date you’d like to send the recognition. If the date is set in the past, the recognition will be sent at the top of the next hour after submission.
- Send Time* - Select a time you’d like to send the recognition. The time zone will register based on the location reported by your internet browser.
- From* - Select the user from which the recognition will come (this user is usually a general recognition account) or check the “From Supervisor” option to have the recognition come from each award recipient’s direct supervisor.
- To* - Enter metadata or individual names of award recipients. If recognizing a large list of users, copy and paste a list of employee Ids and/or emails in this field. Check the box next to “Send to Everyone” to release the award to everyone registered on your organization’s user file. You’re able to select multiple metadata values and user names if desired.
- Points* - Enter a point value you’d like to award to each recipient.
- Budget* - Select a budget on the dropdown menu from which points will come.
- Note* - Enter a message that will be displayed with the recognition in the recognition feed. Depending on the configuration of your attached email template, this note may be sent directly to the employee’s inbox. These notes are typically kept short but it is possible to include a lengthy message in this cell. This message has a 1000 character limit.
- Visibility - Make this recognition visible on the social feed or private using this dropdown menu.
- Program - Designate the program that the award is being submitted under using this dropdown menu. Selecting a program is optional but allows you to stay consistent in your reporting and can help restrict the awards to certain award networks. Note - Selecting a program does not ensure the email template attached to that program in Recognition Program settings will send. You will need to select an email template from drop- down menu presented on the Bulk Email Builder form to have an email communication sent with the bulk recognition.
- Tags - Select hashtags you’d like to attach to the recognition from the dropdown menu.
- Email Template - Designate which email template will be used to notify the recipient of the recognition by selecting an email template name from the dropdown menu. Verify the email template you wish to use in the Email Templates tab in the Platform > Notification Settings.
- Media - Add images or videos to your bulk recognitions. The media will show in the feed and emails (if configured). Ensure the file is under 50MB in size and videos are less than one minute.

Click Next. Review the details of the bulk recognition and click Send it. The pending award(s) will appear in the Pending Tab in Queues.
Create and Schedule Service Awards
If you need to send a service award that was missed, click the Service Award button under the Create and Schedule Service Awards option. Note: this method of bulk recognition isn’t tied to the Service Award automation, and won’t create a MemoryBook. Follow the steps below to configure the bulk recognition:
- Send Date* - Select a date you’d like to send the recognition. If the date is set in the past, the recognition will be sent at the top of the next hour after submission.
- Send Time* - Select a time you’d like to send the recognition. The time zone will register based on the location reported by your internet browser.
- From* - Select the user from which the recognition will come (this user is usually a general recognition account) or check the “From Supervisor” option to have the recognition come from each award recipient’s direct supervisor.
- To* - Enter the individual name of the award recipient. This option can only accommodate one user at a time.
- Points* - Enter a point value you’d like to award to each recipient.
- Budget* - Select a budget on the dropdown menu from which points will come.
- Note* - Enter a message that will be displayed with the recognition in the recognition fee. Depending on the configuration of your attached email template, this note may be sent directly to the employee’s inbox. Click Next. Review the details of the bulk recognition and click Send it. The pending award(s) will appear in the Pending Tab in Queues.
Start from Scratch and Upload a Custom CSV
To send bulk recognitions via a CSV, click Download Template. Follow the instructions in the Building a CSV File for Bulk Recognition article to help you in filling out the template. Once finished, click Upload CSV, select your file, and click Upload. The pending award(s) will appear in the Pending Tab in Queues.
Send Out Emails with No Monetary Value
To send spot recognitions with no monetary value, utilize the Bulk Email Builder. Using this tool will not create recognitions, which results in recognition data reflecting more accurate metrics.
Error Troubleshooting
If you find yourself having trouble understanding errors related to bulk recognitions, reference the Bulk Recognition Error Troubleshooting article. Issues relating to uploading a file won't apply to the bulk recognition builder; the "Recognitions Sent to the Errors Tab" and "Miscellaneous Errors" sections will be most applicable/helpful.
Important Notes
Any recognition dates set in the past will be sent at the top of the next hour. This applies to the scheduled recognitions, their corresponding emails, and any designated manager notifications.
Any bulk recognition file with a total value exceeding $5,000 requires the involvement of your Awardco point of contact.
