This article will guide you on how to set up your notifications to stay informed about recognitions, surveys, and related activity within your team and organization. You'll learn how to manage your preferences for staying connected.
Important Note on Visibility and Control: The notification options available to you depend on two factors: your organization's purchased products (Recognition and/or Engage) and the settings configured by your Awardco administrator.
If your organization uses Awardco Engage only, the primary notification option you will be able to manage is Surveys. Options for Recognitions and Approvals may not appear.
Your administrator may have locked certain channels or notification types, limiting your ability to adjust them.

- Important Considerations
Notifications relating to recognitions you receive or others in your organization receive can arrive to you in five different ways:
- In-Platform: When you or someone on your team (depending on your settings) receives a recognition, the bell icon in the top navigation displays a red circle indicating the number of new notifications. Click the icon to view notification details.
- In-Platform Behavior: Click the icon to view notification details. The initial view shows unread notifications; toggling to "All" displays all notifications you've received. Use the three dots to the right of each notification to mark it as "Read," "Unread," or "Delete," or click "Mark all as read" at the bottom to dismiss all unread notifications.
- Email: Depending on your settings, you can receive emails notifying you of recognitions you've received, recognitions specific people in your organization have received, or comments on recognitions you've given, received, or been tagged in.
- Slack and Microsoft Teams (if enabled): Receive recognition notifications via Slack and/or Microsoft Teams.
- Note: If your organization has integrated with Slack or Teams, reference the relevant support articles to finalize the integration and set up your setting preferences.
- Recognition Digest : Get a weekly summary of recognition emails every Friday morning.
- SMS: Receive SMS (text message) notifications when you are recognized.
Accessing Your Notification Settings

Understanding Notification Options
On the Notifications page, you'll find options to control the types of notifications you receive, as well as how you receive them.
Here's a breakdown of the available channels you can use to receive notifications:
- Platform
- Slack and/or Microsoft Teams (If enabled by your organization)
Here are the available notification categories:
- Recognitions
- Approvals
- Surveys
The following sections will explain the different types of notifications under each notification category:
- My Recognitions: Notifications for recognitions you have received.
-
Recognition Comments: Comments on recognitions you’ve given, received, or been tagged in. The subscription options are:
- None - Receive no notifications about comments on recognitions.
- Mentions Only - Receive a notification only when someone mentions you in a comment on a recognition.
- All - Receive a notification when anyone comments on a recognition you've given or received.
-
Others’ Recognitions: Notifications for recognitions others have received. To specify for whom you'd like to receive "Others' Recognitions" (beyond yourself), use the dropdown menu to select one of the following options (Note: Not all of the below options may be available, depending on configurations set by your organization):
- None
- Direct Reports - Only users that report directly to you (if you are a manager).
- Team - Includes your supervisor, anyone reporting to your supervisor, and anyone reporting directly to you.
- My Circle - People in your ‘My Circle’.
- Everyone - Everyone in your organization.
- Custom - Get notifications for anyone with specific metadata tags (if multiple metadata tags are added, logic will assume an OR statement).
- Recognition Digests: Receive a weekly email summary (sent on Friday mornings) of recognitions received by others. Use the dropdown to specify for whom you'd like to receive recognitions (options mirror those above).
This section only applies if your organization utilizes recognition programs and configures an approval process for submitted recognitions.
- Approval Assignments - Notifications for approvals that have been assigned to you.
- Approval Completed - Notifications for when an approval you submitted has been approved or declined.
- Approval Reminders - Notifications reminding you that you have pending approvals to review.
This section controls notifications related to Awardco surveys.
Invitation: Notifications for the initial invitation sent when a new survey opens. The available channels for this notification are Platform, Email, and Slack/Microsoft Teams.
Check the box for your desired notification option and channel combinations. Press “Save Changes” after you’re finished.
Clicking the "SMS" tab in notification settings takes you to the SMS Notifications page. On this page, you can enable or disable SMS notifications (if this feature is available in your organization).
- You will only see the "SMS" tab if your organization has enabled SMS as a notification option.
- Navigating to the SMS tab does not automatically enable SMS notifications. You must toggle the setting on the SMS Notifications page to enable them (unless your organization has automatically enrolled you in SMS notifications).
See the "How to Enable SMS Notifications in Awardco" support article for details.
- Admin Control is Primary: Your ability to adjust certain notification settings may be restricted by your organization's platform configurations. Some notification types and channels may be locked by your administrator.
- Program Scope: These settings apply to Recognition, Earn programs, and Surveys. Automated programs (Service Awards, Birthdays, and Onboarding) may have separate settings configured by your organization's internal Awardco administrator.
