What is a Virtual Prepaid Card?
A Virtual Prepaid Card is a 16-digit card account that can be used for online shopping. You can use it to shop online, over the phone, or add it to your favorite retailer or fast food mobile app, wherever Mastercard or Visa debit cards are accepted, depending on availability in certain countries.
Note: Some stores might not accept prepaid cards. Please check with the store before attempting to use one.
When does the Virtual Prepaid Card expire?
Your virtual prepaid card must be used within six months from the date you receive the card activation link. After this period, the funds will no longer be accessible.
Can I change from a Virtual Prepaid Card to a physical Prepaid Card?
Yes. Once you receive and activate the virtual card, click 'View Card Details', then select 'Request Plastic Card'. Enter the shipping address and click 'Send My Card'. The card ships for free and will take up to 2 weeks to arrive.
Note: For orders outside the US, delivery times may vary.
How do you activate the Virtual Prepaid Card?
To redeem your alpha-numeric promo code, follow these steps:
1. Click the link in the Prepaid Reward email you received.
3. Enter the code and press 'Redeem Code'.
4. Enter shipping details, agree to the disclosure and cardholder agreement, and click 'Activate'.
Your card is now activated. Record the card number, expiration date, and security code for online purchases, or save it to your mobile wallet by selecting 'Add to Wallet' for use at brick-and-mortar retail locations. If you need access to this information in the future, an additional email with a link to retrieve virtual card information will be sent to your inbox.
To request a physical card, click "View Card Details" and then select "Request Plastic Card" from the menu below the card.
Enter shipping address details. The card ships for free and will take up to 2 weeks to arrive. Check the box next to 'Expedite My Card' if you want the card to arrive sooner. Once finished, click 'Send My Card'.
Important Delivery Information: After your card ships, there is a 21-day delivery window. Please monitor for your card's arrival during this period. If you don't receive your physical card within 21 days after shipping, you'll need to contact the vendor directly through MyPrepaidCenter.com/contactus to report the non-delivery and request assistance.
How are fees and exchange rates assessed?
The currency conversion fee applies only to cards issued in USD and is set at 2% per transaction. This fee is applied to every transaction outside the US. The currency exchange happens in real-time at the time of purchase when the transaction is settled by the merchant. There are no currency conversion fees for CAD, EUR, or GBP cards as these can only be used at places that accept and settle transactions in these particular currencies. The actual currency conversion is handled by Visa or Mastercard, depending on the card type, using the current day's exchange rate.
For example, if you use your USD card in London to make a GBP 5.00 purchase, $6.49 would be deducted from the card for the purchase at a Visa/Mastercard rate of GBP 1.00 = USD 0.77. A 2% currency conversion fee of $0.13 would also be deducted from the card balance. In total, a GBP 5.00 purchase would cost $6.62 USD.
