Cost center assignment within system budgeting streamlines budget organization and reporting.
NOTE: The cost center feature in the Awardco platform is designed specifically to generate data for the Cost Center Distribution report. This report displays the current balance of all budgets assigned to each cost center. For department spending tracking, budget access assignment, or other cost center applications, please contact your Awardco Client Success Manager to discuss user file metadata configuration.
Building Cost Centers
To create cost centers after enabling the feature:
- Log in.
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Click "Finance," then "Cost Centers" from the left navigation menu.
- Click "Add Cost Center" and enter the information for your new cost center. We recommend including an ID number.
Managing Cost Centers via CSV
To manage multiple cost centers simultaneously using a CSV file:
- Log in.
- On the homepage, select the Admin button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- Click "Finance," then "Cost Centers" from the left navigation menu.
- Select "Upload CSV" and download the cost-center.csv template.
- Add new cost centers by listing the Cost Center ID and Name in the file.
- Submit the completed file.
Assigning Budgets to Cost Centers
Once cost centers are created, you can assign budgets to them during budget creation or by editing existing budgets. For more information on budget configuration, visit our article on Managing Budgets.
Note: Cost center deletion must be performed manually within the platform. Removing a cost center from a CSV file upload will not delete it automatically.
