Value of Offering PayPal
Adding PayPal as a redemption option provides significant advantages, especially for your international workforce:
- Global Flexibility: PayPal is a popular and trusted payment platform in many countries outside the United States, making it an excellent redemption choice for your global employees.
- Local Currency: Funds are generally transferred in the employee's local currency (e.g., JPY for a user in Japan), providing a more direct and valuable redemption experience.
- Simple Disbursement: Once redeemed, the funds are transferred directly to the user's specified PayPal account.
How to Enable PayPal as a Redemption Option
To integrate PayPal as a redemption choice within your platform, you must work directly with your Awardco point of contact:
- Contact Your Awardco CSM or TCSM: Get in touch with your Client Success Manager (CSM) or Technical Client Success Manager (TCSM) to request that PayPal be enabled for your platform.
- Confirm Country Availability: Discuss and confirm the specific countries in which PayPal will be offered with your CSM or TCSM.
- Ensure Payment Method is Set Up: Confirm with your Awardco contact that you have an established payment method on file to cover external redemptions, as PayPal transfers are handled directly by the Awardco fulfillment team.
Changing the PayPal Award Network
Once PayPal has been enabled by the Awardco team, they will have already assigned the PayPal catalog to an Award Network. In case you’d like to change the Award Network in the future, follow the steps below:
- Log into your Awardco platform.
- On the homepage, select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Marketplace” and then "Catalogs."
- Find and click on one of the PayPal catalogs. The naming convention is typically formatted with the country name (e.g., Brazil PayPal).
-
In the Award Network section, select the name of the Award Network where you want redemption for PayPal funds to be available.
- Scroll down and click Save.
- Repeat this process for each country's PayPal catalog in which you want PayPal to be an available option.
FAQ
- Q: Is PayPal available in the United States?
- A: No. PayPal is only available internationally and is not currently offered as a redemption option in the US.
- Q: Which countries is it available in?
- A: The list of available countries is subject to change. Please confirm the full list of supported countries with your CSM or TCSM.
- Q: How long does the transfer take?
- A: Once the employee redeems points, the funds will typically show up in their PayPal account within 2–10 business days.
- Q: Is there a fee associated with the redemption?
- A: Yes, there is a small transfer fee charged by PayPal. This fee is baked into the points cost of the redemption item, meaning the employee will not see a separate fee deduction. The total point cost is adjusted to ensure the final cash amount transferred is fair and even.
- Q: What email should the user use?
- A: Users should ensure the email address they use for their profile on the platform is the personal email associated with their PayPal account to prevent transfer issues.
