If you'd like to set up an integration that will import all employee data from ADP Workforce Now to the Awardco platform, please reference the article and video below to get started.
Note: In order to finalize the integration, you must be both an admin of Awardco and ADP.
Warning: If you already have employee data in your platform, please confirm that the Employee IDs you will be using in your new data feed are consistent with your current user data. Failure to do so can result in duplication of users, recognition errors, and loss of data integrity.
Setup
Begin Setup
Although the integration can be found in the ADP Marketplace, we recommend that you begin setup in the Awardco Integrations Library.
- Login to Awardco, click “Admin”, then “Settings”, then “Integrations”.
- Click on “ADP Workforce Now”.
- Finally, click “Begin Setup”.
Purchase and Connect the Integration
- Copy the temporary company key provided.
- Go to ADP using the link provided in the modal and click “Buy Now”.
- Ensure that you are purchasing the appropriate pricing tier of the integration for your organization. If you anticipate surpassing the user limit specified in your chosen tier, opt for a package that aligns with the size of your workforce for that year.
- You’ll see an alert that says “There is missing or incorrect information”. Click “Edit”, paste the temporary company key in the ‘Awardco Temporary Company Key’ field.
- Click “Save”, and then press “Next”.
- Agree to ADP’s terms of service and click ‘Complete Purchase’.
- Return to setup in Awardco and press 'Continue' to proceed with the setup wizard.
Complete Client Authorization
- The ADP admin should click the client authorization link.
- Agree to the terms and conditions in ADP.
- Return to Awardco and click “Continue”.
Configure Mapping Settings
- On this page, you’ll map fields in ADP to fields in Awardco. You can also create custom metadata fields using ADP data (see our Support article for details).
- Some fields like Employee ID and Supervisor ID are preset to ensure organizational hierarchy imports correctly.
-
Important Notes:
- Be aware that not all fields are guaranteed to have values, so you will need to run the import and pull a User report to verify that the correct information is populating.
- The ADP import will import all of the employees who have an “Active” or “Leave” status for their primary position.
- Employee Id and Supervisor Id are preset to the ADP Position Id for the employee and their supervisor, respectively. This is done to ensure that the organizational hierarchy is imported correctly.
- Phone Number is preset as well. The phone number will first check for a personal mobile number, then a business mobile number. The phone number is not utilized unless your company is also utilizing Awardco’s SMS feature.
- Some of the other fields have been preset for convenience.
- First Name and Last Name are required, so it is recommended that the “Legal First Name” and “Legal Last Name” are used, because ADP is guaranteed to have that information for every employee.
- Hire date has several possible values:
- /workers/workAssignments/hireDate is recommended
- Fields guaranteed to have data for all employees:
- /workers/workAssignments/hireDate
- /workers/workerDates/originalHireDate
- Fields not guaranteed to have data for all employees:
- /workers/workAssignments/seniorityDate
- /workers/workerDates/rehireDate
- The "#" symbol is unnecessary (and not supported) when adding metadata fields in the mapping settings.
- When finished, be sure to click “Save and Connect”.
Configure Connection Settings
- Click the “Connection Settings” tab in Awardco’s ADP Workforce Now integration setup page.
- Select the frequency of your user data sync from ADP to Awardco (daily, weekly, or monthly).
- Configure Advanced Settings as needed. Awardco representatives can assist with these configurations.
Begin Using Integration
You’re now ready to use the integration! Click “Connect” on the ADP Connection Settings page in Awardco. The integration will run based on the selected frequency.
How to Update your ADP Subscription

Q&A
Q: Which clients are eligible to use this integration?
A: Awardco for ADP Workforce Now is currently available for US-based clients only. You must be using ADP Workforce Now and have access to the ADP Marketplace.
Q: Which ADP platforms does this integration work with?
A: This integration is designed for ADP Workforce Now, but it also works for clients on ADP TotalSource. For clients who use other ADP platforms (such as Vantage HCM or Enterprise HR), we recommend that they perform user file transfers via API or SFTP.
Q: I’m getting an error that the “Request Header is too long”. How do I fix this?
A: Try going through the installation process using an incognito/private browser window. If the problem persists, please contact ADP for assistance.
Q: Which user fields does this integration support?
A: This integration supports all of our standard user fields, and also supports the creation of metadata fields.
Q: Does this integration support Metadata Filters for companies who want to feed data from multiple HRIS platforms into Awardco?
A: No, the ADP integration doesn’t currently support metadata filtering. The workaround right now is to enter the Employee ID’s of the non-ADP users in the “Do Not Archive” setting of the ADP integration (which obviously would require some manual work). The next best option would be to do traditional SFTP imports with both ADP and other employee database(s) and use our Metadata Filtering functionality.
Q: How often are data imports run?
A: Our daily import runs at 10:30am UTC every day. If it is a weekly frequency, it runs at 10:30am UTC on Monday.
Q: I’m getting a blank user file when I run an import through the integration. How do I resolve this?
A: The integration filters out users who don’t have an active status in ADP. You’ll need to enable the ‘Status’ permission in your custom Marketplace Awardco Profile in ADP so that the integration knows who is active and who is not. If the permission is not enabled, no employees will register as active and no user data will be sent.
