Why Migrate?
- Embrace a Modern User Experience: This update delivers a more modern, intuitive, and visually appealing experience for all users, aligning with contemporary web design standards and making navigation feel familiar.
- Improved Navigation: The new left-side navigation and top "Recognize" button provide easier access to key features, enhancing user efficiency. The points breakdown in the side navigation offers better visibility of spending and giving balances, encouraging platform engagement.
- Branding Enhancements: Enjoy a more seamless integration of your brand with the automatically generated accessible color palette. Be aware that HTML widgets will not inherit the Navigation 2.0 branding.
- Change Management is Simple: This is primarily a user interface update focused on improving usability. Refer to our Migration Playbook for guidance on internal communication strategies to announce these exciting changes to your users.
Important Notes
Keep these crucial points in mind before you initiate the migration process:
- Awardco 2.0 is a Suite of Features/Enhancements: All updates are enabled together when you migrate; it’s an all-in-one experience designed to work as a cohesive package.
- Migration is Non-Reversible: Once your platform is updated to Awardco 2.0, you will not be able to revert to the previous user interface.
- Post-Migration Configuration Required: You will need to configure User Profiles and Notification settings to your preferences after the update is complete. Existing notification preferences will be transferred, but you'll have access to new, more granular settings.
- No Additional Cost: There is no additional cost associated with the Awardco 2.0 user interface, new features, or functionality.
- Empowered Timeline: With the self-service tool, Super Admins can manage the transition on their own timeline without waiting for manual backend updates.
- Persistent Reminders: The migration banner will remain visible to all Super Admins until the migration process is completed via the wizard.
Migration Prerequisites
To ensure a smooth transition to Awardco 2.0, please review and update the following platform settings:
-
Adjust Your Logo for Optimal Contrast: With the new white headers in Awardco 2.0, logos with significant white space around them may lack sufficient contrast. Please update your company logos in your Branding settings to ensure they are clearly visible.
- Navigate to: Admin > Settings > Branding
- Why this is important: Ensures your logo looks great in the new interface.
-
Select Single Primary and Secondary Branding Colors: Awardco 2.0 simplifies brand color management to a primary and a secondary color. From these two selections, an accessible color palette is automatically generated.
- What you need to do: Please identify the primary and secondary brand colors you wish to use in your platform.
- Why this is important: The new UI uses these colors to create a consistent and accessible branded experience.
-
Design Your Homepage with the Homepage Editor: If your platform is still using a legacy homepage design and hasn't been updated using the modern Homepage Editor, you will not be able to migrate to Awardco 2.0. Please work with your Awardco point of contact to transition your homepage to the new editor.
- Support Article: Homepage Editor support article
-
Why this is important: The legacy homepage is not compatible with the new Navigation 2.0 framework.
-
Reduce Label Lengths to 15 Characters or Less: The Awardco 2.0 user interface has a 15-character limit for point and other branding labels (e.g., "Points," "Recognize"). If your current labels exceed this limit, please shorten them in your admin settings.
-
Below are the labels you'll need to look at and adjust, if necessary (some of these tabs your organization may not utilized):
-
Spend Tab (applicable to all)

How to Self-Migrate to Awardco 2.0
For most organizations (Self-Service, SMB, and Mid-Market segments), the move to Awardco 2.0 is now easier than ever with our Self-Service Migration Tool.
If your organization meets the preparation requirements, a Super Admin will see a one-time invitation modal the next time they log in.
- To start immediately: Click "Start Migration Wizard" in the pop-up window.
- To start later: If you dismiss the modal, a persistent banner will remain at the top of your Admin screen. You can click this banner at any time to launch the migration process when your team is ready.
Note: If you do not see the migration banner or use a custom legacy HTML homepage, please reach out to your Point of Contact or CSM to schedule your migration.
Using The Migration Wizard
Once you launch the migration, a step-by-step "Migration Wizard" will guide you through four primary requirements. While you can modify these in your Admin settings after the migration is complete, the wizard ensures your platform looks great from day one:
- Review Navigation Labels: ACO 2.0 features a streamlined design with a 15-character limit for labels. We recommend using the default labels to ensure the best experience with language translations and future product updates.
- Verify Your Logo: You will see a preview of how your company logo renders in the new 2.0 header to ensure it is clear and correctly sized.
- Confirm Branding Colors: You will select your primary and secondary brand colors. The wizard will help ensure these selections meet WCAG accessibility standards so all employees can use the platform easily.
- Access the Communications Guide: Before finishing, you will be provided with a comprehensive Communications Guide and announcement templates to help you introduce the new experience to your employees.
After you have been migrated, be sure to read and action on all the items outlined in the Awardco 2.0 Setup: Post Migration Checklist support article.
