Accessing the Homepage Editor
To access the Homepage Editor:
- Select the “Admin” button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
- From the left navigation menu, click “Customize” and then "Homepage Editor."
This page displays a preview of your templated homepage, offering options to change the banner image and customize various widgets below. The toolbar at the bottom allows you to preview the homepage on a mobile device, exit the editor, and publish any changes you’ve made to your custom design.
When you make changes to the homepage, a yellow bar will appear at the bottom of the screen indicating unsaved changes. If you exit the editor without publishing or discarding these changes, they will be saved as a draft for you to revisit later.
Once you're satisfied with your homepage design, click “Publish Changes” in the bottom right corner of the screen. Publishing will update the homepage for all users.
Banner
You can upload a custom image for the homepage banner by selecting the pencil icon in the top right corner of the banner section. Then, click the pencil icon to the right of the default image.
Click “Upload Image.” The image must have a minimum width of 2000px and a minimum height of 600px. Accepted file formats are JPG and PNG. The preview on the right will show how the image will appear on your homepage.
Enter accessibility text to provide a brief image description for users with visual impairments. Utilize the “Primary Text” and “Secondary Text” fields to add custom text that overlays the image. You can adjust the text alignment to left, center, or right and choose the text color (black or white). Once you're happy with the banner settings, click “Save.”
Note: The banner is a fixed widget and cannot be removed.
Banner Variants
Create multiple banner variations, or variants, based on user metadata. This is particularly useful if multiple companies access the platform and you want employees from different organizations to see distinct banner images. You might also want to display different banners to employees in different countries.
To add a banner variant, click “Add Variant” and select a metadata tag. Next, specify the metadata value(s) that apply to the employees who should see this specific banner. Apply your desired text settings and click “Save.” Repeat these steps for each metadata value requiring a different banner. Delete variants by selecting the trash can icon.
User Widget
This widget displays the user's profile photo and a personalized greeting. Clicking the pencil icon allows you to add a sub-header below the greeting. Sub-header options include: point balance (“You Have 250 points to spend!”), a day-specific greeting (“Happy [day of the week]!”), and the current date (“Monday, September 19, 2022”). Selecting “none” will only display the greeting. The greeting will also congratulate users on their service anniversaries or birthdays.
Note: The User widget is a fixed widget and cannot be removed.
Recognize Widget
This widget provides direct access to the recognition form. Users with recognition program access can easily begin recognizing others without needing to click the “Recognize” tab at the top of the screen. Once recipient names are entered, the platform will direct the nominator to the screen displaying the applicable recognition programs.
The appearance of this widget is linked to your Recognition Program Settings (Admin > Programs > Recognition Programs). If Recognition Programs are enabled via the On/Off toggle, this form will appear on the homepage. If the setting is toggled “off,” the widget will not be available.
Note: The Recognize widget is a fixed widget and cannot be removed if Recognition Programs are enabled.
Note: If Bulk Recognition settings, such as advanced grouping or file upload, are configured, those options will not appear in this widget. To recognize large groups via .csv file or advanced grouping, click “Recognize” in the top navigation menu.
Add Content
To create a tailored homepage, you can add various widgets to the left and right sections. The following sections detail each widget type and its specific features.
Text/Media
This widget allows you to display custom text, images, and videos. It's a versatile option for showcasing company values, updates, or events. To add a Text/Media widget, click “Add Content” on either the left or right side and select “Add” next to “Text/Media.”
- Best Practice: The Text/Media widget is often used to create an FAQ section, which is included by default in new client platforms. Consider adding a widget like this to provide answers to common questions about your platform's redemption options.
Enter the header text that will appear at the top of the widget. Use the rich text editor to format your text. You can add images by uploading them (minimum width of 1200px) or by embedding videos. You can now add multiple images to a single Text/Media widget.
For images:
- You can upload them (minimum width of 1200px).
- If applicable, enter accessibility text (a brief description of the image for visually impaired users).
- You can make images clickable.
- Only HTTPS image URLs will be accepted; URLs with additional parameters that might run a script will not be accepted.
- Links can also be added to text within the widget.
For videos:
- You can upload a file. Supported file formats for upload include: .ogm, .wmv, .mpg, .webm, .ogv, .asx, .mpeg, .mp4, .m4v, .avi. Uploaded videos will be converted to .mp4.
- You can embed videos from secure sources such as YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia.
- Customization options for embedded videos (e.g., autoplay, showing player controls) are not currently available through the widget settings.
Finally, input any text you want to appear below the media in the “Text (below media)” field. Review the preview on the right, make any necessary adjustments, and click “Save.”
Text/Media Variants
Create multiple versions, or variants, of a Text/Media widget based on user metadata. This is useful for displaying different information to employees in varying organizations or countries accessing the recognition platform.
To add a Text/Media widget variant, click “Add Variant” and select the metadata tag. Next, specify the metadata value(s) that apply to the employees who should see this specific widget. Apply your desired text and media settings and click “Save.” Repeat these steps for each metadata value requiring a different Text/Media widget. Delete variants by selecting the trash can icon.
Claim AwardCode
If your organization uses AwardCodes, this widget allows employees to easily claim their points. To add this widget, select “Add Content” on the left side of the homepage (it cannot be placed on the right side), click “Add” next to “Claim AwardCode,” and the widget will appear at the bottom of the left section.
Upcoming Milestones
Note: This widget requires the use of our Service Awards automation, Birthday Automation, Onboarding Automation, and/or MemoryBooks feature. If MemoryBooks are enabled, ensure the Upcoming Milestones widget is also enabled (Admin > Platform Settings > Feed) and that “MemoryBooks” is checked under the Upcoming Milestones settings (Admin > Platform Settings > Feed > Upcoming Milestone).
This widget displays upcoming service anniversaries, birthdays, and new hires based on your user data. One-time MemoryBooks are the exception and still rely on the recognition queue. All birthdays, new hires, and service anniversaries will be visible unless a user has opted out of these notifications or private recognition entirely.
Adding this widget makes these milestones more visible by displaying them directly on the homepage. Select “Add Content” on the left side of the homepage (not available for the right side), click “Add” next to “Upcoming Milestones,” and the widget will appear at the bottom of the left section. Visit the Feed settings to further customize which milestones are displayed in the widget.
Popular Choices
This widget showcases popular redemption items, giving employees insight into how others are using their points. The three displayed options will vary based on your organization's available redemption options. To add this widget, select “Add Content” on the right side of the homepage (not available for the left side), click “Add” next to “Popular Choices,” and the widget will appear at the bottom of the right section. Clicking “View All Items” will direct the user to the “All” section of the Spent Points Landing page, displaying all available options in your organization’s Award Network.
Wish List
Many users save their points for desired items, often from Amazon. Currently, the wish list is accessible by clicking the shopping cart icon at the top of the screen. This widget allows employees to readily view their wish list on the homepage. To add this widget, select “Add Content” on the right side of the homepage (not available for the left side), click “Add” next to “Wish List,” and the widget will appear at the bottom of the right section. The last three added wish list items will be displayed; users can click “View Your Wishlist” to see all items.
Recognition Feed
Displaying the social feed on your homepage allows users to easily see positive recognitions and peer achievements. If the feed is public in your organization, adding this widget enhances convenience. To add it, select “Add Content” on the right side of the homepage (not available for the left side), click “Add” next to “Recognition Feed,” and the widget will appear at the bottom of the right section. We recommend placing this widget at the bottom of the homepage for optimal user experience, as the infinitely loading feed could push other widgets further down and out of view.
Opportunities to Recognize
This widget provides users with a quick and clear view of the points they are eligible to give within each recognition program. It distinguishes between points available to give and points available to spend, reducing potential confusion. Select “Add Content” on either the left or right side of the page and click "Add" next to "Opportunities to Recognize". The information displayed is based on any Nomination and/or Eligibility Limits and whether the user has access to any budgets. The visibility of budget amounts in this widget depends on the Show Budget Amounts setting within the Recognition Programs rules. If this setting is On, users will see the budgets they have access to. If it's Off, budgets will not be displayed. Note: You can customize the widget title to your preferred name.
Opportunities to Earn
This widget allows users to easily see the points they are eligible to earn within each Earn program. The programs displayed in this widget are determined by program eligibility settings. Select “Add Content” on either the left or right side of the page and click "Add" next to "Opportunities to Earn". Note: You can customize the widget title to your preferred name.
A-Pay
A-Pay is a virtual or physical card directly linked to your Awardco point balance. It seamlessly integrates with our Lifestyle Spending Account feature, enhancing your ability as an admin to manage subscriptions and memberships. To enable the A-Pay widget, navigate to the "Add Content" section on the left side of the page and click "Add" next to "A-Pay". This will display a widget on the homepage, allowing users to view their A-Pay purchasing power, card details, and spending limits.
Funding Health Widget
This widget is visible only to Admins with access to the Billing Page and provides a snapshot of the company account's funding status. It helps admins quickly assess their funding by comparing total funds against outstanding points in employee wallets. This increased transparency helps prevent platforms from zeroing out funds, ensuring employees can always redeem their points. Select “Add Content” on the left side of the page and click "Add" next to "Funding Health".
Catalog Banner
This widget allows you to promote specific catalogs on the homepage, including existing redemption options (Amazon, gift cards, etc.) or custom catalogs. The widget can be placed on either the left or right side of the page. Click Add Content and select the Catalog Banner widget. You can then choose from the available redemption options. The preview will show how the widget will appear based on its placement on the homepage. Once you've selected your catalog, you can add variants as needed. Position the widget on the homepage and publish your changes. Employees will now see this catalog displayed on the homepage.
Notes: This widget functions best when the Spend Points Landing Page is enabled. We advise against using award network-specific or metadata-limited catalogs, as they may not display content for all users, leading to a negative experience.
Team Engagement
The Team Engagement widget provides managers with valuable insights into how their direct reports are interacting with recognition programs on the Awardco platform. This widget will only be visible to users with direct reports. Select “Add Content” on the right side of the page and click "Add" next to "Team Engagement".
Pinned Recognitions
Pinning recognitions is a great way to highlight important recognitions in a scrolling carousel at the top of the recognition feed. Refer to the Social Recognition Feed Settings article for instructions on enabling this feature.
This carousel can also be added as a widget on the homepage. Select “Add Content” on the right side of the page and click "Add" next to "Pinned Recognitions."
Surveys
If your organization is running surveys through Awardco’s Surveys feature, you can add a widget to the homepage displaying relevant surveys for your workforce. Select “Add Content” on the left side of the page and click "Add" next to "Surveys Widget." The widget will display surveys that the user is eligible to participate in.
Pinned Announcements
If your organization uses the Company Announcements feature, this widget highlights pinned announcements on the homepage so employees can easily see important updates and open a pop‑up modal to view the full announcement in the platform.
Deleting Widgets
To remove an added widget from the homepage, select the trash can icon in the top right corner of the widget. The following components and widgets are fixed and cannot be removed:
- Banner
- User widget
- Recognize Widget (if Recognition Programs are enabled)
Arranging the Order of Widgets
Desktop
To rearrange added widgets, click the Move Up/Down icon in the upper right corner of the widget and drag it to your desired position. The Banner, User, and Recognize widgets are fixed and cannot be moved. Certain added widgets can only be positioned within specific areas of the homepage editor.
Widgets strictly on the left side:
- User
- Funding Health
- Upcoming Milestones
- Claim AwardCode
- A-Pay
- Surveys
Widgets strictly on the right side:
- Recognize
- Team Engagement
- Pinned Recognitions
- Recognition Feed (recommended at the bottom)
While Text/Image widgets can be created on both sides of the homepage, they can only be reordered within the side they were initially created.
Mobile
Widgets added to the desktop view will also appear on the mobile view, but their arrangement can be customized independently. The mobile version uses a stacked format and will initially arrange widgets in the order they were added. To customize the widget order for the mobile homepage, click the mobile icon at the bottom of the screen.
Note: The Banner, User, and Recognize widgets will always appear in that order on the mobile view and cannot be rearranged or deleted.
