Awardco offers SMS (text message) notifications to users when they receive recognition. This feature is particularly beneficial for companies with employees who have limited email access or who don't frequently use computers, such as those in restaurants, hospitals, warehouses, or truck drivers. It's important to understand that SMS notifications are a supplement to, not a replacement for, email notifications, expanding the reach of your Awardco platform.
Note: Some Awardco clients may not be eligible for SMS notifications. Our SMS provider, Twilio, restricts certain industries (e.g., illegal substances, prescription drugs, gambling) from using their service. Please reference Twilio’s full list HERE to ensure your company does not fall into one of these categories.
How it Works
Users who have enabled SMS notifications will receive text messages when they are recognized in Awardco.
Message Format
Each text message will be in this format:
“Awardco: Congrats {RecognitionToFirstName}! {RecognitionFromFirstName} just recognized you! View your recognition here: [link to recognition]”
Additionally, when a user receives a text from Awardco for the first time, it will be immediately followed up with the following introductory message:
“You have been opted in to receive notifications from Awardco. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”
User & Company Setup Process
User Setup
If your company has enabled SMS notifications, you can opt in by logging into Awardco and going to My Profile → Settings → Notifications → SMS and toggling "SMS Notifications" to "On."
If you haven't added your phone number to Awardco, you'll be prompted to do so before enabling SMS notifications.
To opt out, follow the same steps and toggle "SMS Notifications" to "Off." You can also reply "STOP" to any Awardco text message. To resume notifications after opting out via text, reply "START."
Company Setup
Awardco admins can enable SMS notifications for their company by following these steps:
- Populate Phone Numbers: Ensure user phone numbers are added to Awardco. Users can add them in their My Account settings. Refer to our support documentation for detailed instructions.
- Contact Your Awardco Representative: Contact your Awardco representative to enable the SMS feature. This may take several business days.
- Configure Company Settings: Configure SMS notifications in Admin → Platform → Notifications → SMS.
Configuration Options:
-
Who Can Receive: Select who can receive SMS notifications: "No One," "Everyone," or "Metadata" (users with specific metadata). Note that this only determines eligibility; users must still opt in.
-
Automatic Enrollment (Optional): Automatically enroll users. Options are "Everyone" or "Metadata." You must accept our SMS Agreement, acknowledging you've obtained employee consent, when enabling this setting.
Additional Details
- Each client receives a dedicated, automatically assigned phone number for SMS messages, which cannot be customized. Companies cannot use existing phone numbers.
- The text message content is standardized and not currently customizable.
International Considerations
Foreign Countries: While international messaging is possible, we cannot guarantee delivery due to varying international regulations and carrier restrictions. Add international users' phone numbers and enable or enroll them as described earlier.
Foreign Languages: SMS messages will be translated based on the user's Awardco language settings. Supported languages include:
- Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish.
- If a language is not supported by our SMS provider, the message will be sent in English.
- Opt-in/opt-out keywords ("STOP," "START") must be in English.
