Integration with Slack "2.0 Update"

New Updates Available!
Awardco has released a new update for our Slack integration. If you’re already using our Slack app, some new features will require you to update or reinstall the app. The other features are available to all clients right away. We recommend updating your version to get the most out of the new features! Reference the Integrating Slack with Awardco support article for more information. 

How to Update

  1. Navigate to the "Slack" option in the Integrations Library.
  2. Click “Update”
    • You’ll see an alert near the top of the page.
  3. Accept New Permissions
    • Click through to accept any additional required permissions.
  4. Follow the Setup Wizard
    • Optionally enable new features like multimedia posting and notifications.


New Features

(items with a * will require update/reinstall the Awardco app in Slack. Other items are already available.)

  1. Recognition Notifications*

    • What’s New: Get private notifications in Slack when you receive a recognition. Notifications will show the reward value and link to view the recognition.
    • How to Set Up: Follow the "How To Update Steps" above. 

  2. App Dashboard*

    • What’s New: Access your points balance, recognition stats, and support articles from the Awardco app in Slack.
    • How to Set Up: Follow the "How To Update Steps" above. 

  3. Images & Videos

    • What’s New: Display images, GIFs, and videos on recognitions posted to Slack.
    • How to Set Up: Admins should enable “Multimedia Posting” in the Slack - Awardco integration settings (Slack > Feed Settings > Multimedia Posting).

  4. Profile Tagging

    • What’s New: Tag users in recognitions to link directly to their Slack profiles.
    • How to Set Up: Admins should turn on “Profile Tagging” in the Slack - Awardco integration settings (Slack > Feed Settings > Profile Tagging).

  5. Automated Programs

    • What’s New: Automated recognitions like service awards and birthdays will be posted in Slack channels.
    • How to Set Up: Admins need to configure Automated Programs in the Slack - Awardco integration settings (Slack > Feed Settings > Automated Programs).

  6. One-Time MemoryBooks

    • What’s New: Share one-time MemoryBooks in Slack channels.
    • How to Set Up: Admins should configure One-Time MemoryBooks in the Slack - Awardco integration settings (Slack > Feed Settings > One-time MemoryBooks).

  7. “Recognize Someone” Button

    • What’s New: A button for quick recognition is added to recognitions in Slack.
    • How to Set Up: Admins can enable this button in Awardco settings if all users can give recognitions in the Slack - Awardco integration settings(Slack > Feed Settings > Recognize Someone Button).

  8. “View in Awardco” Link

    • What’s New: A link to view recognitions directly in Awardco is added.
    • How to Set Up: Admins should enable this link in the Slack - Awardco integration settings (Slack > Feed Settings > View in Awardco Link).

  9. Recognition Tool Enhancements

    • What’s New: Improved tools for recognizing users within Slack, including better image selection and recognition review.
    • How to Set Up: Follow the "How To Update Steps" above. 

  10. Automated User Account Linking*

    • What’s New: Automatic linking of user accounts when emails match between Slack and Awardco.
    • How to Set Up: Follow the "How To Update Steps" above.
