Encore is an exciting way to amplify the impact of recognitions, allowing managers and users with budget access to reward exceptional efforts with additional points. This feature ensures that standout contributions don't go unnoticed and provides the opportunity to further acknowledge the hard work of team members in a meaningful way. By enabling Encore, the recognition experience becomes even more powerful, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation within the organization. Note: Budget access is required to add points to a recognition via Encore. It is not possible for users to add points to recognitions given to themselves.
Note: Recognitions given through automated programs (Service Awards, Onboarding, and Birthdays) cannot have Encore points added.
Setting Up Encore
- Click the Admin button on the homepage to access the Admin portal.
- Select the Settings tab at the top of the screen.
- On the right side of the page, click Encore.
- Click Set up Encore.
- Enable Encore by toggling the first switch.
- Configure how points will be displayed when users add points to recognitions:
- Provide a single preset amount.
- Allow custom amounts, if desired.
- Ensure that individuals awarding extra points have the appropriate budget access:
- Allowed Budgets: Leave this option toggled All to permit givers to award from any budget they have access to. Toggle Limited to restrict Encore points to be given from specific budgets, and specify those budgets from the dropdown menu
- Under Budget Amounts, toggle Show to make remaining budget balances visible to those giving Encore points. Toggle Hide to keep budget balances hidden.
- Configure whether all users with budget access can give Encore points, or limit access by user or metadata. Multiple user and/or metadata values can be added.
- Determine if recognitions from specific programs are eligible for Encore:
- Toggle All to make all recognitions eligible.
- Toggle Limit Program and select specific programs to limit eligibility.
- Set comments as either Required or Optional when giving points via Encore (Recommended: Required). Comments will appear on the recognition in the social feed.
- To notify recipients of an Encore, toggle Yes to enable email notifications. Note: The email template is not customizable.
- Click Save to finalize the Encore setup.
How to Encore a Recognition

- On the homepage click on the Feed tab.
- Scroll to the desired recognition and click the Encore button.
- Enter a comment, select a preset point amount, or input a custom amount (if available). The view/what information is required may vary.
- Select the budget from which the points will be deducted, and then click Give Encore.
- After submission, the Encore will appear in the recognition’s comments. The added point amount will only be visible to the recipient.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it cost extra to implement Encore?
- The cost of implementing Encore depends on your Awardco contract. Please consult your Awardco representative for more information.
- How come all my employees can't Encore?
- To use Encore, users must have access to a budget. Some programs may allocate points through centralized budgets, limiting individual budget access. If you want managers or users to have the ability to use Encore, you'll need to set up budgets they can access.
- Can I Encore a private recognition?
- No, private recognitions are not eligible for Encore. This is by design to maintain the privacy of those recognitions.
- How do Encored recognitions appear in reporting?
- In the Recognition Details report, an Encore will display as a recognition but will be specified as an Encore in the Program Name and Recognition Source columns.
