Solutions for Low Login Rates
If insufficient users are logging into your recognition platform, its full potential remains untapped. Here are some remedies to consider to boost login rates:
1) Send an Email Through Bulk Email Builder Prompting Login
Utilize the Email Template Easy Editor to craft an email that raises platform awareness and prompts users to engage with the tools available. Access the Easy Editor by following these steps:
- Click on the Admin button on the homepage.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Select Email Templates under Company Settings.
- Click Add Template.
- Fill out the Template information and click on ‘Easy Editor’ under the Editor Type dropdown menu. Click Next.
Refer to the Email Template Easy Editor support article for detailed instructions. After building out the email, access the Bulk Email Builder with the procedures below:
- Select the Queues tab in Admin settings.
- Click Bulk Email on the left-hand side of the page.
Fill out the Bulk Email form, select your newly created email template from the Email Template dropdown menu, click Next, and then schedule the bulk email. Reference the Sending Non-Monetary Emails with Bulk Email Builder support article or Episode 31 of How We Built This for more guidance.
2) Create a Survey to Identify Login Pain Points
Gathering information from users in your organization can help you to discover how users feel about the current state of your recognition platform. Create a survey through our Surveys tool to gather valuable feedback that can allow you to make decisions that will help you better their experience. Questions that can garner such information could be:
- How frequently do you log into the platform?
- What barriers do you encounter when logging in?
- What enhancements would you like to see in the platform experience?
Encourage participation in the survey by awarding points after the survey is taken (possible in the Reward tab in Surveys settings), or frame the invitation as an opportunity for participants to weigh-in and possibly affect change in how they interact with the platform. View the How We Built This - "Leveraging Surveys in Awardco" workshop episode for more information.
3) Implement Platform Drivers like AwardCodes and Onboarding Swag
AwardCodes and Onboarding Swag serve as incentives to encourage users to log in and engage with the platform. Awarding physical AwardCodes allows users to scan QR codes to log in and add points to their balance. Additionally, allocating points to new hires for company swag introduces the platform early in the onboarding process. Refer to the following articles for more information:

4) Drive Internal Change with Leadership Support
Managers play a pivotal role in change management. Increased emphasis on recognition by managers correlates with higher login rates. Encourage managers to promote recognition in one-on-one meetings and team gatherings.
Solutions for Low Recognition Rates
Insufficient recognition implies missed opportunities for fostering appreciation among colleagues. Consider the following solutions to enhance recognition rates:

Setting an automated reminder to remind users to recognize is a simple solution to increase recognition. Access Reminders settings with the following steps:
- Click on the Admin button on the homepage.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click Reminders on the left-hand side of the page.
- Set the Recognition Reminder Frequency and email template.
To create the email template to be sent, create one in the Email Template Easy Editor. Be sure to set the Email Type as ‘Recognition Reminder’ when creating the template. 2) Utilize Communication Integrations
Awardco partners with a variety of applications from Slack to Microsoft Outlook. Implementing one of these integrations gets Awardco into channels your organization is already using and makes recognition that much more accessible. View the Applications that integration with Awardco support article to learn more about all the available integrations Awardco offers.
3) Monitor Recognition Insights
It is possible some areas of your organization excel in recognition, and the low recognition utilization you notice are isolated to certain groups of users. Access the Recognition Program Utilization report to view program participation and utilization by nominators. This information will inform you on user groups to encourage based on programs with low utilization. Access the Recognition Program Utilization support article for instructions on navigating the report.

Consult the Role-Based Dashboards support article and Episode 30 of How We Built This for instructions on how to view dashboards and implement them for specific roles.
Solutions for Low Redemption Rates
Users not spending their hard-earned points means they aren’t connecting their employee experience to their value your organization is providing. Consider the following to increase the redemption of points given.
1) Enable the Point Balance Reminder
Setting an automated reminder to remind users to spend their points is a simple solution to increase redemption. Access Reminders settings with the following steps:
- Click on the Admin button on the homepage.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click Reminders on the left-hand side of the page.
- Set the Point Balance Reminder Frequency, email template and Point Balance Threshold.
To create the email template to be sent, create one in the Email Template Easy Editor. Be sure to set the Email Type as ‘Point Balance’ when creating the template. It’s recommended to send this reminder on a monthly cadence, and to set a threshold of 10 points (users with a balance of 10 points or greater will receive the reminder). View our Platform Reminders support article for more information.
2) Look for Redemption Trends in Reporting
If you provide metadata on your user file imports, reports like the User Point Balance report can help you to target regions or specific sections of your organization that specifically are not spending their points. To stay on top of redemption trends, schedule this report to be sent you on a regular basis through the Sending Scheduled Reports feature.
3) Expand Redemption Options
An explanation for why redemption rates are low could be due to users not liking anything that’s being offered in the Spend Points tab. To dive further into this, create a survey through our Surveys tool to gather valuable feedback that can allow you to make decisions that will help you better their experience. Questions that can garner such information could be:
- What would you like to spend your points on?
- If you have a point balance, what’s preventing you from spending?
Based on your findings, expand your Award Network options and even think about allowing users to supplement their purchases with their own payment details if they want items greater than their current point balance.
