This is the classic situation, "do it yourself, because it will most likely be quicker and easier" but without being condescending. Use impersonation to make quick one-off changes without disrupting flows. As an admin, there are times where it is easier to impersonate someone's account to take care of any issues rather than having the user do it themselves. If a manager is on vacation and a recognition approval needs to go through, or if an employee needs help changing their notification preferences, the user impersonation feature will be useful for you.
Enabling User Impersonation
Before you're able to go into an employee's account through the impersonation feature, you will need to activate this feature in your platform. Only system administrators or users with the "Admin" role type will be able to access this feature. Follow these steps activate User Impersonation:
- Click on the Admin portal button on the homepage.
- Select the Settings tab towards the top of the page.
- Click Advanced Settings on the left-hand side of the page.
- Toggle Admin Impersonate to On.
Impersonating a User
Once you receive confirmation from Awardco that the option has been enabled, go to your account and navigate to the Users tab in the Admin section and search for the employee you would like to impersonate.
Once you locate the employee you want impersonate, hover over the option button just to the right of their balance, and click the icon. From the dropdown menu, you will select "Impersonate User."
Once an active impersonation is in progress, you will see a blue bar across the top of the screen with the message, "IMPERSONATION IN PROGRESS. Return to my account." Click "Return to my account" to exit the impersonation and return to your personal account.
Please note that any action you take in the employee's account while the impersonation is in progress will be completed as if the employee themselves completed the action. This is not a test environment. The system will allow you to recognize other users, change user information, spend points, and more.
