This article will detail the customized reminders that are can be sent to users to increase adoption, engagement, and redemption in your platform.
Navigating to Reminders
To view and edit Reminders settings:
- Select the Admin button at the top right of the homepage
- Click the Settings tab
- Click Reminders
Available Reminders
There’s no doubt you want your recognition platform to be as successful as possible. That’s why we have created reminder emails—to increase program adoption across all your programs! Reminder emails can be turned on in your platform to remind your employees to recognize, approve any outstanding approvals, and spend their points. Here’s what you can do with reminder emails:

Point Balance Reminder: When employees receive points and don’t spend them, that has long-term consequences on your budget. When funds aren’t used, budgets are decreased year over year, and that means less incentive spend on your employees. The point balance reminder helps increase interaction with the platform and boosts redemption rates—which means more incentive spend in years to come!

Point balance reminders can go out on any of the following cadences:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Semi-Annually
- Annually
- The reminder email will be sent as close to the first day of the selected period as possible through a balanced algorithm. For example, if a user receives the email on the 1st one month, the system will send it as close to the 1st as it can the following month.
- Establishing a point threshold allows us to determine the minimum account balance required to trigger the reminder email. For example, assuming the points to dollars ratio is 1:1, entering 30 points means only users who have 30 or more points in their account balance will receive the reminder email.
- Select 'Test' to receive a sample email of the selected point balance reminder template. The test email will be sent to the currently logged-in user, providing information on their point balance.

Recognition Reminder: For those who may not have the Awardco platform integrated into their daily workflow, it can be easy to forget to make recognition a part of daily life. Recognition reminders are a great way to remind your employees how much you value recognition—and how important it is for them to recognize everyone they work with.

Recognition reminders can be sent on any of the following cadences:
- Monthly - the 15th of the month
- Quarterly - January 15th, April 15th, July 15th, and October 15th
- Semi-Annually - January 15th & July 15th
- Annually - January 15th

Recognition reminders can be sent on any of the following cadences:
- Approval Reminder (This setting has moved to Approval Settings): Receiving recognition for something completed two months ago doesn’t have quite the same impact as receiving it immediately. While approval processes are sometimes needed, they can weaken the power of recognition. Approval reminder emails are a great way to help remove that bottleneck. For approval reminders they go out every Monday on a weekly basis.
Reminder Emails
If you haven't established reminder emails for any of the above reminders, begin the process of creating an email template with the following steps:
- Select the Admin button at the top right of the homepage
- Click the Settings tab
- Click Email Templates
- Select Add Template
- Input a Template Name, choose an Email Type (Point Balance, Recognition Reminder, or Nomination Needs Approval), and Language. For the Editor Type, it is recommended you use the Easy Editor.
- Click Next
Based on the email type you selected, the Easy Editor will provide a platform generated Point Balance, Recognition Reminder, or Nomination Needs approval email template. Follow the instructions in the Email Template Easy Editor article to make desired adjustments. Once finished, choose your newly created email template in Reminders settings.
